Fundamentals of Personal Training

Personalised

Initial personal training sessions will be dedicated to assessing your current fitness status and putting in place a personalised training plan that will meet your unique needs and goals.

Your personal trainer will listen to any health concerns, needs and desired fitness goals and help you to understand how your personalised plan will keep you on track.

Targeted

We will work closely with you to make sure you are achieving your targets and making progress in each training session.

Each session is planned around your SMART targets so that it is challenging, yet achievable and enjoyable at the same time.

Integrative

Since achieving all-round health is more than just exercise, we can guide you towards other helpful lifestyle practices.

Exercise Referrals

At Impington Sports Centre we are part of the Exercise Referral Scheme.

An exercise referral, otherwise known as GP referral, is the process of a medical or health professional referring a patient to a fitness programme.

The overall aim of this scheme is to improve the patient’s health and well-being, and to encourage the patient to lead a more active lifestyle moving forwards.

If you are a GP or a patient looking for a local facility in or near to Histon & Impington to provide personal training or fitness sessions at part of the referrals scheme, then please get in contact to find out more or pop in to have a chat with our personal trainers or fitness instructors about how the process works, what we can offer and to take a look at our facilities.

Post-Injury Exercise

As you start to get back into training again after an injury, you will need to be extra cautious to avoid any setbacks that will derail your progress or worse, cause another injury.

That’s where our experienced personal trainers can guide you with carefully planned sessions that will build up your fitness at the right level for your recovery from injury.

We have a wide range of equipment to support your recovery and build strength at your own pace. Our personal trainers can also communicate with other health professionals that you may be working with, such as our other colleagues in the HI Health Team – osteopaths, acupuncturists, nutritionists & health coaches etc.

Athletes & Sports Performance

At Impington Sports Centre, we have a range of specialist equipment and expertise to support athletes and those looking to achieve higher level sports performance.

From runners to weight lifters, cyclists to sports teams, you can be assured that we are on hand to provide training plans that will elevate your sports performance and help you to smash your targets.

Get in contact to find out more or pop in to have a chat with our personal trainers or fitness instructors about how we can support you, what we can offer and to take a look at our facilities.

Pregnancy & Post Natal Exercise

Whilst pregnant and after having a baby, being active may seem like the last thing you want to do. But contrary to popular belief, it can help you to feel more energetic. It can also help to relax you and of course, keep you fit.

Staying active can also help your body recover after childbirth and may help prevent postnatal depression.

Once you feel ready to get moving again and have had your post-natal 6 week check (or longer if you had a c-section – check with your midwife or GP), then you might decide to book a personal training session to help you get active again with safe and appropriate exercises.

Your lower back and core abdominal muscles may be weaker and your ligaments and joints are also more supple and flexible for a few months after birth, so there’s an increased risk of injury if you stretch or twist too much.

Our personal trainers can devise a training plan to suit your needs and goals and will support you to get back into fitness in a way that is both progressive, yet enjoyable.

Exercise for Seniors

As we age, our lean muscle tissue tends to shrink while our body fat typically increases. The shift from muscle to fat occurs for many reasons: changes in hormones and/or metabolic rate, plus reduced physical activity.

But the slippery slide from muscle to fat and excess weight isn’t the only option! Regular, targeted strength, core and cardiovascular exercises will help you to stay healthier for longer, boost your energy levels and improve additional factors such as bone density, balance and flexibility.

Our experienced personal trainers can design a personalised plan to meet your specific health needs and provide an enjoyable session that you can look forward to on a regular basis.
