Recovery & Rehabilitation
in Histon & Impington, Cambridge
When you have an injury, illness or medical condition, it’s important that you seek the right kind of support to help you on your journey to recovery or rehabilitation.
Whatever your situation, it can be frustrating and debilitating, both mentally and physically. This can make it really difficult to make progress and to feel like you are getting back on track to leading the lifestyle that you want to live.
That’s why it is important to work with someone who can support you not only with the physical exercises that will improve your strength and fitness, but can also address the other areas of your health that may be having an impact on your progress.
Caroline Collard is not only a personal trainer that works specifically with rehabilitation clients, but is also a qualified nutritionist and health coach, specialising in health psychology. You can find out more about Caroline and the holistic health services she provides locally in Histon, Impington & surrounding areas, plus online via video calls, by reading the information provided below.
Post-Injury Exercise
Whether you are coming back to exercise after a sporting injury, after having an accident or even from complications after having a baby, it can be difficult to get back into an exercise routine or to know how to improve your strength and fitness in a specific area of your body, particularly if you’ve been unable to use certain muscles for a period of time.
By working with a personal trainer and health coach that only works with rehabilitation clients, you can get specialised one to one support via personal training strength and conditioning sessions that are tailored to work with recommendations from your physiotherapist, osteopath, GP or other healthcare professional to get you back on track and return stronger than you thought possible. Caroline is happy to work with your other healthcare providers to make sure you are being supported properly so that you can make progress as quickly as possible.
As part of the service, you will also be provided with exercises to complete between sessions using specialist software that you can access online at any time and will help to keep you accountable for making progress.
Exercise for Long-Term Conditions
Specialist exercise programmes for people with life-altering clinical conditions, such as heart disease, cancer, COPD, diabetes and long COVID. Programmes are also recommended for those looking to improve their lifestyle, manage weight or build confidence to exercise independently.
For anyone living with, or recovering from, one of many chronic conditions, exercise is a powerful tool to help maximise quality and longevity of life. This is achieved by prescribing specialist, clinically proven and highly effective physical exercise sessions, alongside tailored lifestyle and nutrition support.
Psychological Support
Psychological support can assist everyone affected by injury or illness. An injury or illness doesn’t exclusively affect physical capabilities, but psychological aspects too, such as losing the benefits associated with the opportunity to exercise, train and/or compete, anxiety about dealing with your injury or illness, fear of failure to improve physical activity, inability to stick to rehabilitation plans, negative self-talk, trouble with sleeping and increased stress levels. Caroline works with a holistic view of health and can help you to focus on the mental components of recovery or rehabilitation. She does this by providing support, education and the tools needed in recovering from an injury to enable the return to exercise and/or sport. These tools work in conjunction with physiological interventions.
Nutrition Support
As a qualified nutritionist, Caroline can help to maximise your potential for recovery or rehabilitation through making injury or illness-specific dietary recommendations. Also, if you struggle with fatigue, fluctuating energy levels or if you want to fine-tune your body composition, then nutritional guidance is essential.
